It is easier if you print or keep this page open so you can refer to it while you add your business.  You can open a new window or tab by right-clicking your mouse while the cursor is over the hyperlink you want to open.

The cost for adding a business to the Directory is R550 a year.  This allows for almost unlimited text, a number of images and complete contact details, including hyperlinked email and website addresses.  An invoice is generated and needs to be paid before the business goes online.

There is no charge for Nightsbridge clients who pay 10% commission on bookings.
Contact details for Nightsbridge clients are not shown since these are only provided to the guest after a booking has been made.  Since many potential guests prefer to make contact before making a booking, Nightsbridge clients make have this included at a cost of R350 a year.  Please advise us if you wish to pursue this option.

Businesses in the directory are also promoted in other editorial content on the website and in newsletters.

Before you can add your business, you need to register as a New User.  You can do this at CapeInfo's home page (not on this forum's registration - please note).

You will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes.  You need to click on the link contained in it to activate your account.  This is important!  Your account remains blocked until you confirm using this link.  Check your spam folder if you do not receive it.

Adding a business to the directory
After you log in from the same link in the navigation, you will be redirected to a page with all the business categories.  Select the category you want to add your business to.  If there are sub-categories, (eg. accommodation > guest houses) please make sure that you go to the category that suits you best.  To see the full list of categories, visit http://capeinfo.com/component/option,com_mtree/Itemid,32/

Click the link on the right hand side of the category or sub-category page that says "Add your listing here".

    The form
The form really has two components:

The first covers a brief introduction and your general details.  Remember that a comprehensive physical address is important for the search facility.

The "introductory description" - which is included in the listings page that presents short descriptions of all businesses in a certain category as well as at the top of your full web page - should be fairly short and needs to sell your business so people want to discover more.

The "default image" is a photo or logo that can be uploaded from your computer.  It is resized automatically and included in the listings page.

The second component allows for almost unlimited text and photos.  This content is shown on your full web page.  This is the page that must present your offering to its best advantage, since we link to this page from other content on CapeInfo, such as the Cape Guide section and newsletters.

The Image Gallery facility (at the bottom) allows you to add up to 10 photos.  Thumbnails appear in the right hand column and, when clicked, open larger images in the central portion of the page.  These images must be at least 550 pixels wide to avoid pixelating when viewed at the larger size.  Ideally, they should be about 100Kb and not more than 300Kb.  Do not try uploading high resolution images meant for print - your submission will not go through.

You can also add images so that they are part of the text.  These can be added, located and resized using the insert/edit image icon - .  Click on Upload to use images that are stored on your computer.

To see how pages can look as well as some of the features still to be introduced, please visit http://capeinfo.com/newlayout/mockup.php.

    Some tips
NB:  Do not type everything in capital letters.  Use capital letters only when required at the beginning of sentences and for proper names, etc.  For those who know, excessive use of capitals on the internet is regarded as SHOUTING, and bad manners.

Before you start, it is a good idea to save the current images on your page to a folder on your computer (Ctrl S when the mouse is over the picture).  These pictures have been resized and optimized and you may wish to use them again.

The introductory description needs to be fairly short and can include one thumbnail image.   (This image may be any size less than 600 pixels high or wide and will be resized automatically.)  The content should be fairly short and sell your business in as few words as possible - this is what must make customers learn more.   No other text editing controls are available for this text box.

The extended description allows you to add images and format your copy.  (If you don’t have image editing software, you can download this for free at http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm)

Please do complete this text box and make sure your content is as comprehensive as possible.  Rather include your photos here.  (There is also a Photo gallery option, but that means people have to open more pages to see what you have to offer.)  The more you can show people quickly, on one page, the more likely they are likely to respond to you.

If you are graded by the TGCSA, please include this in the appropriate box.  The stars are added automatically.

Nightsbridge clients must include their BBID number in the relevant box for the graphic link to appear for your online bookings.

There second phase to the upgrade sees proximity search and maps/satellite photos locating your business being introduced.
