There have been some significant improvements to our Directory Search, which is now integrated with Google maps.
We've also started introducing a number of Quicklinks to specialised searches -- like Budget getaways -- where you'll find accommodation at under R350 a night.
If you look at CapeInfo's home page, you'll also see a link to Farm stays. Nothing beats farm life for a real escape from city stress. Click here for a list of Farm stays.
If you've stayed at any of the accommodation establishments in CapeInfo's directory, please write a review about them. The link to do that is near the bottom of each establishment's page. (Establishment owners are not allowed to submit reviews for their own establishments.)
BLOGS The State of Destination Marketing Two new stories reflect on what's happening as far as destination marketing is concerned in two of South Africa's largest cities. See:
Poor Johannesburg! It's restructuring is making real destination marketing almost impossible.
For decades, the local government, the private sector and communities have been at odds with each other over destination marketing, with local government believing it has ownership and must control the process. It doesn't, and destination marketing will never be successful until all three groups have shared and common ownership of the task.
So many talented people from the private sector have tried to work with local government, only to be worn out by hot air and interminable process, which achieve little. CapeInfo has written to SALGA (SA Local Government Association) suggesting that they prepare a handbook or guidelines for how these three spheres should work together effectively. If that isn't got right, destination marketing will never be successful!
