We're about to complete the upgrade of CapeInfo's directory and would appreciate your input before we finalise everything.
 The search element wil change shortly to introduce "proximity search". This means that visitors will, for example, be able to search all listings or a specific category with "n" kilometres of the V&A Waterfront, or Baardskeerdersbos, or Sandton.
The directory page itself has already started changing and this is where we would appreciate your input.
Apart from the change to the layout, the main new features are:
- Businesses may include their logo at the top of the page.
- All pages have a link at the top and bottom to make it easy for visitors to bookmark your page, either on their own computer or by sharing with friends at their social networking site.
- Customer ratings will be shown along with Customer reviews. Businesses get to approve these reviews before they are published and can reply to them too.
- Icons for Facilities & Services, Dining and Languages spoken are being introduced. Visitors will also be able to search for businesses by using any or several of these criteria.
This is where we would appreciate your input. We want to finalise icons that cater for accommodation establishments as well as dining, and as many other business types as possible. So, what icons would tour companies… or your company, like to see there?
- Those businesses that have added photos to the Photo gallery should be pleased with this change - visitors no longer have to click through two extra pages to see the photographs, they will now appear on the main directory page.
 By clicking on the thumbnail image, a larger version will open in the collapsible frame on the main directory page. Up to 12 images may be included in the Photo Gallery.
NB. You can still add images in the body of your copy, to emphasise features relating to your content, and to hold your reader's attention.
- An important new feature is the inclusion of a map which locates your business. This will require that you activate this. We have not decided at this stage whether to use Google or Virtual Earth maps.
- There will be provision to include your GPS position, which we will require for future mapping enhancements. Where a business provides locational information, visitors will be able to click through to our main maps page and ask for the driving route and distance from the Airport to Bob's B&B, for example.
- There is a facility to show a summary of your rates. This information will be repeated in our "Towns in detail" pages………………….
- You can update the new special offers section as frequently as you like. The content that you provide will also be shown in a new Special Offers page that we will highlight on our home page.
- There are then 3 additional items which you can customise to your own needs - you could, for example, have headings of "Awards", "Local attractions" and "Charities we support", or anything else that will contribute to the reader's experience on your page… and made them want to bookmark it.
