Wake up to mind-blowing views of the ocean, beach, rare mangroves and forest-lined river.  This small, rustic, eco-minded family-run spot lies on the eastern side of the Mdumbi River mouth in a very rural and remote village called Mngcibe.

This is rural Africa at her best!  Your surroundings offer you accommodation situated in a rural and remote area…..faaaar away from the maddening crowds.  The views and access to the beach and river makes this an ideal laid back place to visit and is ideal for the nature lover and outdoor enthusiast who don’t mind roughing it a bit here and there.

This small, rustic, eco-minded family-run spot lies on the eastern side of the Mdumbi River mouth in a very rural and remote village called Mngcibe.  

Our accommodation offers commanding views of the ocean, river, rolling green hills and Tshani point with its perfect right hander and beach breaks!

We can accommodate up to 14 guests indoors and 12 guests (4 sites) camping at one time.  Accommodation is basic, rustic, clean and comfortable and we offer a catered or self-catered option.

Kitchen is communal (makes for social evenings). Our self catered kitchen, with fridge/freezer, gas stove, and the usual kitchen goodies offers limited space for breakfasts and lunches only.  We serve delicious home cooked breakfasts, lunches and house dinners daily.

Note that we are completely off the grid, have no municipal water and only rely on harvesting rain water. The area has no electricity and we make use of solar power for lights, gas for fridge, freezer and stove, paraffin for shower.Note that we are completely off the grid, have no municipal water and only rely on harvesting rain water. Recycling is one of our main concerns.  Please note that should your child use disposable diapers you are requested to bring along your own diaper bags and to take them with you to dispose in a municipal area. Diapers are not bio-degradable and do not burn.

We stock a limited variety of beverages and alcoholic drinks. Be sure to bring along all your favourite treats, drinks, smokes, etc... Spazas only stock a limited amount of the very basics.

The area offers : 

- Safe, secluded, beautiful beaches- Safe river for swimming and you can walk across on low tide River Estuaries- Rare Mangrove swamps- Prolific Bird life- Teeming waters with ±800 species of fish. Surf,rock and river fishing.  Deep sea trips can be arranged- Consistent Surf- River and tidal beach swimming areas on low tide (ideal for the young children)

Surfing - World class right hand points.  Classic beach breaks.  Waves to suit all levels.  Lessons available.
Fishing - river, rock and surf.  Deep sea trips can be arranged.
Hiking trails - Take a hike on the wild side.   Guided hikes to Port St Johns, Hluleka and Coffee Bay can be arranged.
Horse rides - Explore the village on horse back or go for a beach ride.  These are not your average racehorses, so relax, sit back and enjoy the ride and awesome scenery! 
Bird watching (Crowned Crane, Fish Eagle, Giant King Fisher, Hornbills, Bea Eaters, Sun Birds, Raptors – too many to mention…..and many, many more…. We’re not too clued up on all the bird species, so maybe you can help us identify a few.)
Visit the beautiful fresh water pools of the upper Mdumbi river.  Spend the day swimming and sunning in a secluded and peaceful environment.
Discover local culture and learn to weave grass mats or send the kids herding cattle with the local children.
