a bespoke sir herbert baker designed home, built in 1908,with all the original fixtures and can take a step back in time in the restful surroundings of a manicured garden.perfect for a half way stop between the coast and gauteng.

conville farm is owned and run by the Gerrand in its 4th generation on the farm,it has always been operational as a small irrigation farm on the banks of the orange river.for just over 25 years now the main homestead has been utilised as a bed and breakfast, making it the oldest operating B&B in aliwal, and has enjoyed many comebacks from guests around the world,as they travel through the magical eastern cape.

the home itself was orginally designed by sir Herbert Baker, famed for his design work on the bank of England, as well as the Union Biuldings in Pretoria.over 4 generations it has been kept as close to original as is possible, with all the imported woodwork and furniture still in place.

the home is only 800m from the orange river and is ideal spot for birders and walkers, and also for runners as it forms a boundary for our local park run.the gardens are carefully managed so that our guests can switch off and relax, but being only 2.5km from town centre it is still close enough for one to quickly pop to the store to get your braai goodies and a bottle of wine for sundowners.
