This historic building, which, in 1860, served as the offices of legendary diamond magnate Cecil John Rhodes, is today a luxurious boutique guesthouse nestling securely behind high walls near the CBD of the quiet riverside village of Barkly West, situated in the heart of the rich alluvial diamond fields, and former Capital of the short-lived Republic of Klipdrift (1868-1872).

This historic building, which, in 1860, served as the offices of legendary diamond magnate Cecil John Rhodes, is today a luxurious boutique guesthouse nestling securely behind high walls near the CBD of the quiet riverside village of Barkly West, situated in the heart of the rich alluvial diamond fields, and former Capital of the short-lived Republic of Klipdrift (1868-1872).

Crossing the wide, pillared verandah to the entrance, guests are welcomed into the ambiance of a bygone era with gleaming Oregon pine floors and 4 beautifully furnished and air-conditioned master suites.

Suite 1  boasts immaculate bathroom with shower and bath, a bar fridge, ample hanging space in a huge wardrobe, flat screen television & DSTV, a desk and hot beverage facilities while Suite 1 is equipped with a Queen size bed and Suite 2 has 2 x ¾ beds.

Both suites have double door access onto the wide verandah.

Suite 3 boasts full air conditioning with a period skylight flooding the room with natural light, 2 x ¾ beds,  immaculate bathroom with shower and bath, a bar fridge, ample hanging space in a huge wardrobe, flat screen television & DSTV, a desk and hot beverage facilities.

Suite 4 boasts full air conditioning, access onto a wide verandah, 2 x single beds, immaculate bathroom with shower, ample hanging space in a huge wardrobe.

The spacious dining / breakfast room is easily converted into an intimate conference venue seating 30 delegates, with outside barbeque facilities ready to prepare traditional South African delicacies such as “skilpaatjies and boerewors”

Diamond Hill is well situated to welcome both business and leisure travelers, and the perfect base from which to explore the attractions of this ancient area where mining has been a way of life for the last 2,3  million years.
