BED & BREAKFAST ONLY
Mdoni House Guest Lodge, a TGCSA Three Star Establishment is situated a short distance from the sea amid tall trees on a hill overlooking more than an acre of lush sub-tropical garden - a secluded tranquil setting in the heart of the South Coast – “Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom” We cater primarily for mature leisure or corporate guests so unfortunately do not accept larger groups or children under 12.
Our four double rooms all have en-suite bath or shower rooms and are beautifully decorated with clean cream paintwork offset by vibrant curtains and upholstery, stunning metal bedroom suites, ceiling fans, television, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. The two twin/triple rooms are decorated and equipped in a similar manner to the double bedrooms, but are larger and have an extra single bed.
Breakfast is served on the veranda next to the sparkling blue swimming pool, which seems to be suspended at tree top level, where there’s a tantalizing glimpse of the sea through the trees. You may be lucky enough to be serenaded by some brightly coloured birds that inhabit our garden, or to watch the antics of the vervet monkeys at play.
Our guest lounge and dining room, which is furnished with comfortable modern furniture, opens on to the veranda. There is also a bar with glasses bottle openers, ice, etc and cool drinks in the fridge for you to purchase, but as we are no longer licensed you are more than welcome to bring your own alcohol to enjoy here. If you wish to bring in your own food for meals other than breakfast we have provided a microwave oven, plus crockery and cutlery etc. in the passage to the bedrooms for our guests’ use.
Though the house is a non-smoking area, chairs and ashtrays are provided for our smokers on the veranda, pool deck and car park. Other facilities include free wi-fi throughout, a braai, ample shady parking for your car or boat, and we are able to provide security for your valuables in our strong room. Our swimming pool is not fenced and therefore might be of danger to non-swimmers.
Whilst we try not to intrude on the privacy of your stay here, we live on the premises in a flat attached to the guest house, and will therefore be available should you need us for help or advise during reasonable hours.
There are two extremely popular restaurants, Jaxx and Schooners Galley just 500m from here. Their current menus are displayed in our reception.
Mdoni House Guest Lodge is away from the “maddening crowd” but within minutes of, and very central to, the hype of the South Coast. The beach at Umtentweni, approximately 2,5km from here is a large, pretty beach, which also has a tidal pool and a “granny’s pool” protected from the large waves by a barrier of rocks. A grassed braai area and tuck shop are to be found near the guarded car park. It is very popular beach with both surfers and families, and large enough to cater for both. We are also only 6km from Southport Blue Flag Beach.
Some of the best sea fishing spots are very near, and we are within a few minutes’ drive of the "Buzz" of Shelly Beach and Margate. Port Shepstone is a mere 3km away where there are a variety of shops, restaurants and take-aways, and there are many natural attractions close by if you enjoy sight-seeing, walking or bird watching. And there's plenty to do for the adventurous - the highest commercial abseil in the world, wild Bunge swing, shark diving, scuba diving, snorkeling, boat based whale and dolphin watching, 4 x 4 trails etc. – Or you could follow a craft trail or visit one of the museums or art galleries.
The Hibiscus Coast is also known as the "Golf Coast" because of the wealth of superb golf courses available. There are 11 within a 50km radius of Umtentweni - the closest being at Port Shepstone Country Club just 2km from our door, which also offers other sporting facilities to guests.
Situated in Umtentweni, a natural garden suburb nestling on the shores of the Indian Ocean, Mdoni House Guest Lodge is just 2km from Port Shepstone and within minutes of the hype of most South Coast attractions making the B&B ideal accommodation for business and leisure travellers.
An oasis of peace and tranquility amongst tall trees in a large subtropical garden Mdoni House Guest Lodge was designed for the hot KZN summers, with high ceilings and airy rooms making the use of ceiling fans almost unnecessary.
