Nestled in the Kruger National Park sits a piece of Eden called Matumi Lodge. Matumi Lodge takes its name from the protected evergreen Matumi Tree. The luscious and green garden is perfect for relaxing in between the local impala herd mowing the lawn and the local birdlife living in the trees.

We have a luxurious 23m swimming pool where you can enjoy drinks from the bar or a relaxing lunch under our lapa prepared by our chef. You can also sit and relax in our 2 storey highview point while watching the African wildlife around you.

Matumi Lodge is ideally situated in the bushveld so you can enjoy a multitude of different activities. There is something for everyone from early morning safari’s before breakfast and dam picnic to a nice day at the spa and the local art gallery.

We are a mere 45km from the Orpen Gate of the famous Kruger National Park where you can relax in the vehicle with a guide or you can drive yourself. We also offer trips around the area to different local attractions.

Matumi Lodge is also part of the Panorama Route well-known for its breathtaking vistas around every mountain corner, waterfalls plunging down faces of sheer rock, memories of the gold rush following you as you meander down an endless river canyon, and eagles hovering above your head – you can’t help walking with your head in the clouds.

One breathtaking view after another – that’s South Africa’s famous Panorama Route, where you’ll experience mountains, sky, forests and the truly impressive Blyde River Canyon, one of the world’s largest canyons.

Day trips and activities can be arranged by the Lodge. Ask at Reception for a list of activities around the Lodge.
