Two and a half hours from Gauteng, Field and Stream offers guests a tranquil getaway.  With its majestic views, streams, waterfalls and abundant wildlife, guests can enjoy fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, birding, clay pigeon shooting, or just relaxing.

Field and Stream is located just past the Dullstroom village on the Tonteldoos Road, only two and half hours from Johannesburg. The farm offers privacy, peace, quiet, streams and three waterfalls, panoramic views, and fly-fishing in various dams or on the Witpoort River. It is an ideal venue for fly fishing, walking, mountain biking and birding, and there is a clay pigeon shooting range for novices to experts.  The farm also offers a conference center for conferencing, team building and celebratory functions.

Accommodation comprises two elegant six- to eight-sleeper stone cottages overlooking a beautiful dam, a more upmarket 10-sleeper lodge above a weir with excellent views, the pet-friendly six-sleeper Farmstead which is the original homestead on the farm that has been renovated, and a pet-friendly two-sleeper cottage. The cottages, lodge, two-sleeper and farmstead accommodate up to 30 guests at a time, and all units are serviced.

Note that Field and Stream is on a dirt road.  Although navigable by all vehicles if driven carefully, high clearance vehicles are preferable.

Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area, covered veranda, outdoor braai area and indoor fireplace. Each booking is provided with one free bag of fire wood and servicing is provided daily.

The Nest and Farmstead are both fenced and pet-friendly.  Pets are charged at a daily rate. The Lodge, Cormorant Cove and Eagles Crest are NOT pet friendly.

Field and Stream offers fly fishing in three dams and in the Witpoort River.  Its streams, three waterfalls and the Witpoort River can be explored on foot or on bicycle. The farm offers a clay pigeon shooting range which offers tuition and guidance for the novice through to the more experienced. There is also a boma at the range, which can be used by groups (e.g. bachelor parties, birthday parties, corporate team building) for braais and parties.

Field and Stream also offers a full equipped conference center that can accommodate up to 25 people. It is equipped with WiFi, overhead projection, flip chart boards and paper and a back up generator. A fully equipped kitchen is available for catering (which can be arranged on request) and an outdoor braai and fire pit offers team building opportunities.

Dullstroom is a small, quaint town on the Mpumalanga grassland highlands, half way between Johannesburg / Pretoria and the Kruger National Park. Located on the Steenkampsberg, this grassland area has an incredible diversity of birds, wild flowers and other wild life. The area is well known for fly fishing, its cooler climate that often offers four seasons in a day, its misty days and fire places. Dullstroom has a number of restaurants and bars to accommodate any palate, and its main street offers a variety of shopping experiences - all within walking distance.

The town of Dullstroom has a number of unique attractions in addition to its many restaurants and shops.  Wild about Whiskey offers whiskey and gin tasting, and the opportunity to taste and purchase from the largest range of whiskeys in the southern hemisphere.  Anvil Ale is an award winning craft brewery that also offers  a range of coffees and a small delightful menu for those who appreciate having a bite whilst enjoying their beer.

For the more energetic, a Park Run is organised at the Dullstroom Dam each Saturday morning at 8 am; there are a number of great mountain biking routes that cater for the novice through to the more experienced; and Highlands Gate offers golf on its Ernie Els designed course.

For the more nature minded, the Dullstroom Nature Reserve offers hiking opportunities; the Bird of Prey Center about 2 km on the Belfast side of town offers two flight displays daily and the opportunity to view a number of birds of prey and other wildlife species; and the Verloren Valei Nature Reserve about 15 km from Dullstroom on the De Berg road can be visited - with prior arrangement - to explore its beauty, diversity of grassland birds and incredible orchid and wild flower diversity.
