“Lie in bed and listen to the waves crashing onto Robberg Beach, prepare your morning coffee in the charming wooden kitchen that defines shabby chic with all its charismatic charm, and finally relax on one of the comfy couches or large daybeds on the cottage’s veranda, enjoying your view of the ocean.”
ABOUTThis interesting beach house is the nearest you can get to an old fashioned (entire beach front) cabin of yesteryear. Conveniently located a stone’s throw from Plettenberg Bay this unassuming gem formed part of the original cluster of shelters built in the 1940’s on Robberg Beach. Ownership of what is lovingly known today as the “Houthuisie” (Wood Cabin) was subsequently handed down from generation to generation. With only local fynbos between the house and the beach – this direct access property is a idyllic.
The interior is an eclectic mix of subtle textures ,family artifacts, South African contemporary art and flotsam. It is clearly well thought through to create an unique, harmonious unpretentious beach cabin with an interior that appeared in the leading design publication in South Africa (VISI).

The floors are clean industrial concrete, scattered with nguni skins. A french wooden burner adds warmth to the huge open living volume in winter.
The entire house runs on a solar system and gas with septic tanks and is nearly completely carbon neutral (do not bring high energy consuming gadgets). There is hardly any mobile phone reception (there is free Wi Fi), yet the cabin is on the outskirts of Plett with no house in sight from the stoep. Only the ocean …
