Gauteng

Gauteng is South Africa's smallest province in land area (1.4% of total and 17,010km²) but has 23.7% of SA's total population with 12,272,263 inhabitants.  Between 2001 and 2011, Gauteng's population grew by 30.7%, almost double the national average.

Gauteng generated 35.6% or an estimated R675 billion of the gross domestic production in 2011, consolidating its position as a single largest contributor to the economy of the country.
