Some of the finest beaches on the Indian Ocean rim are situated just across the street from The Windermere! This luxury oasis is also the perfect base from which to explore Port Elizabeth’s varied historical, cultural and natural attractions. PE (as the city is known to the locals) is also well known for its great sporting facilities – the world famous Humewood Golf Club is 5 minutes away from The Windermere so is South Africa’s oldest cricket test match venue St Georges Park and of course the brand new soccer stadium. On the cultural front , like many port cities, it is very cosmopolitan, the most widely spoken language in the area is Xhosa – PE was at the forefront of the anti apartheid struggle as well as being the landing point of the 1820 British Settlers - as a result there are fantastic cultural and historical tours available. Make sure to leave time to go on a safari (Addo and other big 5 reserves less than an hours drive) also go on for a fabulous dolphin and whale watching trip in Algoa Bay.
