Arumvale is a country house with self catering apartments and separate cottages situated in the Hermitage Valley in a pastoral ambiance 2 km outside Swellendam. Our guest units boasts indoor hearths for winter evenings gazing upon the snow capped mountain peaks and braai facilities for those who wish to enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the late summer evening sunsets.
We also have a rustic farm cottage on our premises overlooking the Langeberg, adjoining a dairy herd pasture close to the Klippe River with double bed open hearth external braai, gas heated hot water and paraffin and candle lamps for a back to the past experience. Arumvale, in addition to being surrounded by peaceful untrammeled nature, has numerous outdoor activities within walking distance i.e. rock climbing, mountain hikes, bird watching, mountain bike trailing, canoeing, field rambling, swimming in the rock pools in the mountain gorge, horse riding in the Marloth mountain reserve and historical heritage walking trails in one of the oldest towns in South Africa.
Directions from mid town Swellendam: - On Voortrek, the main road, turn up Andrew Whyte Street at the OK Bazaars grocery store, continue up and past the golf course, and then take the first turn left onto South Hermitage road. Continue for half a kilometer and is the long, grey roofed double storey building on right after the dairy farm barns.
