Nestled in the heart of the Swartland at the edge of the unique mountain range that stands as an island lies Piketberg, home to Dunn's Castle. Piketberg is about an hour's drive from Cape Town and a half hour's drive from the West Coast.
It stands alone in the middle of undulating fields of wheat, green vineyards and flowering canola. Dunn's Castle was built in the late 1890's for George Dunn and designed by Sir Herbert Baker offering cozy rooms with Victorian finishes. There are five double rooms in the Castle complete with country decor, a fireplace and bath, all have double beds. At present we can accommodate 60 guests in total on a Bed & Breakfast or Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis or self catering.
Three self catering cottages from the period with secure parking will cater for two to three people each. We have added another 20 new self catering units that are fully equipped and sleep two persons each. The Castle offers a peaceful retreat from the busy lifestyle we all experience. Enjoy a refreshing drink on the patio and gaze out on the amazing view of the entire Swartland.
